The press is manufactured and equipped as follows:

 

                - The press frame is a welded assembly of structural steel beams engineered with a high structural safety factor.  The critical surfaces of the structure have been CNC machined after welding.

               

- The heating platens are produced at ITALPRESSE from solid FE 430B steel plates with metallurgical characteristics for optimum heat transfer.  The heating platens are finely milled and surfaced on a specialized CNC machining center.  The plates are then gun drilled on an electronically guided horizontal boring machine that produces very smooth bores for efficient circulation of the heating fluid.  The bores are closed with removable threaded plugs to allow future cleaning or inspection of the bores as required.

 

- The press cylinders are produced in-house at ITALPRESSE from massive seamless steel tubes.  A robotic tube welder carries out the deep welding of the end caps to maintain uniform weld density throughout the depth of the weld.  The bores are then CNC machined assuring tight tolerances on the seal and guide ring seats.

 

                - The cylinder rams are CNC ground, polished, and hard chromed for long life.

 

                - The hydraulic unit includes pressure generation by means of high-pressure piston pump and reservoir. The hydraulic system in controlled by solenoid valves and an adjustable manometer for setting the final operating pressures.

 

                - The parallelism of the platens is maintained during opening and closing by a rack and pinion system.

 

                - A loading / unloading belt made with temperature resistant mylar film is installed in press.  Drive of the belt is by a reduction gear motor with brake.  Loading / unloading of the materials being pressed is simultaneous.

AUTOMATIC CALCULATION OF HYDRAULIC PRESSURE AND ACTIVATION OF CYLINDER EXCLUSION based on panel dimensions and desired laminating pressure entered on the main touch screen HMI.

 

ELECTRONIC FLATNESS CONTROL to detect deflection of the upper platen beyond a set tolerance due to improper positioning of the material in the press.  This important feature prevents damage to the platens by stopping the buildup of pressure.

 

PNEUMATIC SHAKING DEVICE for the upper Mylar belt, activated during the press opening sequence to detach any of the pressed materials that may be sticking to the upper belt.

 

BLOWERS ON THE BOTTOM PLATEN to create an air cushion between the platen and the Mylar press belt, breaking the vacuum created between the belt and the platen during pressing and reducing the friction between the belt and platen during movement.  This feature greatly reduces the stress on the belt drive system and increases the life of the Mylar press belts.

 

CYLINDER EXCLUSION SYSTEM to exclude the first pair of press cylinders when pressing panels less than 103” and more than 70” in length.

 

45 KW ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE THERMAL OIL BOILER SYSTEM including flow through heating unit, circulation pump, digital thermostatic controls, expansion tank, and piping to connect the boiler to the press platens.

 

SPECIAL STEP PRESSING CYCLE with selector switch on the main control panel.  This cycle is used for pressing panels longer than the platen length.   The panel will enter the press in automatic mode.  During the first pressing sequence, the operator will turn the switch to step pressing mode.  When the press opens, the press belt will not unload the panel.  The operator will then use the in-feed belt conveyor’s manual activation button to assist in indexing the panel forward in the press.  Some manual pushing of the panel by the operator can be expected.  The operator then engages the press closing button and the press repeats the previous cycle.  This operation can be repeated multiple times.  After the last pressing cycle, the operator will use the press unloading button to unload the press in the normal way, clearing the press for the next panel.

GRAVITY ROLLER PRESS UNLOADING RECEIVING CONVEYOR RFSP/16-45

 

This conveyor will receive the pressed panels from the hot press.  A person will manually pick up the pressed panels from this conveyor using the Schmultz vacuum lifting device and stack them on a separate conveyor.

This conveyor is a motorized belt conveyor with the CM/160 panel indexing system installed over it.  This station is used to lay-up the panels and then to assist the operator in loading the composed panel into the press lengthwise.  It will be necessary for the operator to give the panel a short push as the panel exits this conveyor onto the lower heated platen of the press.
